All India Essay Writing Competition-2016

For University and College Students in English language
On
“To fulfill Sir Syed’s dream of making AMU ‘The Oxford of the East’, what steps should AMU take to climb to the top spot in University rankings?”



Rules and Regulations:
  • The participant must be a bonafide student of a University or a College. School students up to Class XII are not eligible to participate.
  • The essay should be submitted on A4 size paper in double space typed on one side and should contain around 3000 (three thousand) words duly forwarded by Head of the Institution. A soft copy of the essay along with the photograph of the participant is also essentially required.
  • The essay must be original, not already published in any book, magazine, newspaper and internet.
  • Bonafide certificate from the College/University along with the correspondence address including contact number and E-mail ID of the participant must be provided on a separate sheet attached along with the essay. The participants’ state will be determined on the basis of his/her institution’s address.
  • There are three cash prizes viz., First Prize of Rs. 25,000/-, Second Rs. 15,000/- & Third Rs. 10,000/-. Besides, State level toppers of aforesaid competition will also be given a sum of Rs. 5,000/- as consolation prize.
  • The first, second and third prize winners will be given both ways AC-II class railway fare and State level toppers will be given second class sleeper fare.
  • All prize winners shall be provided boarding and lodging in the University along with one relative (Father, mother, brother or sister).
  • The essay must be sent to the Public Relations Officer, AMU, Aligarh-202002 latest by 25th September 2016.
  • The prizes shall be presented on the occasion of Sir Syed Day celebration on October 17, 2016 by the Chief Guest.
  • The decision of the University with regard to the prizes will be final.

ALL India Essay Writing Competition - Hindi/Urdu/English

 Dear Learner,


The Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is organizing an All India Essay Writing Competition in English language for College and University students with a view to disseminate the vision and mission of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a great visionary, one of the architects of modern India and founder of the Aligarh Muslim University.
The competition is open to all bonafide students of undergraduate level and above. There will be three cash prizes viz., First prize of 25,000, Second 15,000 and Third 10,000 rupees respectively. The University also awards consolation prizes of rupees 5,000 to best essayist from each state. The detailed terms and conditions of the Essay Writing Competition are given in the attached announcement in all the three languages Hindi, English and Urdu, which is also available on our website, www.amu.ac.in. The last date for receipt of the Essay is September 25, 2016

IGNOU looks at tie-up with self-financing colleges

KOCHI: Almost 24 years after St Albert's College allowed Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) to set up a study centre in the campus as part of its social outreach programme, the college has suddenly asked Ignou to move out causing inconvenience to over 4,000 students who are studying nearly 50 courses at the centre.



"The college management, in a letter, informed that they would like to stop the study centre at the college. When we sent several letters requesting them to reconsider the decision, they wrote a letter stating that no Ignou activity will be taken up at the centre from January 1, 2017," said M Rajesh, regional director, Ignou regional centre, Kochi.


Nearly 10L teachers’ posts lying vacant across country: Union MoS HRD

BAREILLY: Union minister of state for human resource development (HRD) Mahendra Nath Pandey said on Saturday that there are nearly 8-10 lakh posts of teachers lying vacant in schools and higher educational institutions across the country. He said that the government is taking initiative to clear the backlog and is also inviting suggestions to update the education policy which has not been revised since 1976. 

IIT council gives nod to off-campus students

NEW DELHI: The IIT council on Tuesday gave in-principle nod for the HRD ministry's proposal to increase the IIT student strength to 1 lakh from the current 72,000 by introducing a new concept of 'non-resident students'.



The ultimate figure of 1 lakh is likely to be achieved by 2020. In a series of big decisions, the council also approved the Prime Minister Research Fellowship programme that will select 1,000 bright BTech IIT students and give them direct admission into PhD programmes with a higher scholarship. IITs will become part of the Global Research Interactive Network which entails foreign faculty, joint supervision of PhDs and students spending a semester in foreign universities.
